Richard Neutra 1892-1970

Richard Neutra trained as an architect in Vienna.

He arrived as an enthusiastic immigrant to the USA in 1923 wanting to work with his idol Frank Lloyd Wright.

Neutra believed that the approaches of Henry Ford could be applied to the construction of homes, neighborhoods, health centers and schools.

His writings and innovative projects in the 1920s, '30s and '40s set the stage for the high-tech variant of indoor/outdoor California Modern style.

He used his studio/residences as a demonstration of his ideas.
